In the cocktail world, musician, DJ and bartender Brother Cleve is one of the top barmen in Boston and gets credit as the godfather of the city’s cocktail revival. Local 149
“This is a great local spot for food and drink in the City Point section of South Boston (one of the areas hottest real estate markets). A pint of beer, a glass of wine, a well-made cocktail and a great meal in a casual atmosphere. They have an annual Tiki week every August... hey, the beach is two short blocks away!”

“Outstanding food and drink make their way to the southern tip of the city, where inner city Dorchester meets tony Milton. Exciting cocktails... yes, some made with rye, match innovative Americana cuisine in a stark brick and steel space where ambulances were once garaged.”

“The highly anticipated Harvard Square spot from chef Michael Sceflo does not disappoint. ‘Simple and elegant’ is an apt description. The bar holds up its end with solid drinks served up by some veteran bartenders amongst the staff.”

“Craft cocktails, tiki drinks in fab ceramic mugs (like Tom Selleck and Jack Book ‘em Dano Lord), a fine selection of small plates and entrees, all housed in an elegant room meant to evoke an earlier time, like 100 years ago. Superb bartenders will serve up fine takes on classic elixers.”

“A Downtown Crossing hot spot that packs them in nightly with great burgers and comfort food matched with extensive craft beer list and forward-thinking cocktail list. Cool reservations-only side room, Bogies Place, serves it up in a more intimate ‘Adults Only’ setting. Be sure to read their ‘Law & Order’ rules online or on the wall - bottom line is ‘No D&#%*^bags!’”

“Easy going atmosphere with patio seating available. Fun spins on comfort food and drinks from the team that brought you JM Curley, with innovative bar manager Kevin Mabry pulling frozen, carbonated et al drinks out of his bag of tricks. The friendly vibe makes it a cool place to hang.”

“The owners of The Beehive in the South End move the concept to Harvard Square with minor adjustments. A big open space accommodates a brasserie-styled restaurant with live music nightly, mostly in the jazz/soul/international sounds (no cover!). A crowded bar a good distance from the stage means you can converse over the music, even if its not meant for background listening. A nice addition to the square.”

“Housed underneath a parking garage (no, you won't smell any fumes), this popular spot features New American cuisine and expert cocktails, catering to Harvard students, their families, and locals in search of a good drink.”

Tapas at Casa B

Casa B
“Stunning Latin and Caribbean tapas meet superb cocktails which lean toward South Of The Border as well as Spanish and Latin spirits - think tequila, mezcal, Pisco, cachaça, rum, Sherry, Jerez brandies. You can even get that Basque favorite, the Kalimotxo (Spanish red wine and Coca Cola -- better than it sounds, trust me!). Another fine addition to the once barren Union Square Somerville scene.”

“German and a Central European food comes to Union Square, Somerville, complete with an outdoor Biergarten. Chef Tim Wiechmann's house-made wursts/sausages are the big draw here, along with a superb selection of regional German beers and schnapps.”

Legal Crossing
“From Legal Sea Foods, the venerable multi-state chain restaurant, which first opened in Cambridge decades ago, refines its concept into a hipper destination for downtown. The biggest distinction is in the cocktail menu curated by a Patrick Sullivan (owner of the legendary B-Side Lounge), which features spirit-forward creations with a knowing wink, name wise, to the former Combat Zone this neighborhood once was known as.”

“Superb craft cocktails and innovative Asian fusion cuisine comes to raucous Chinatown, and it's about time. Boisterous and fun in a coolly decorated space (think Wu Tang Clan meets Ming Dynasty). Sit at the bar and watch old school Kung Fu movies on the backbar's HDTV.”
