They're sleek, chic and one-of-a-kind. Brooklyn Slate Company owners Kristy Hadeka and Sean Tice create rustic cheese boards and coasters from slate, hand-picked at the family quarry in upstate New York.

Each board comes wrapped in burlap, tied with twine and includes a soapstone pencil, so you can write the names of the cheeses right onto the slate.

Is slate sustainable? The slate quarries will last for hundreds of years, but the sale only lasts through Thursday, January 13th.
