  • Ranger Creek Brewery

    1 of 10

    Beer: Ranger Creek Brewery

    Why:

"Based in San Antonio and we were the first to carry one of their kegs. Everything they've come out with, so far, we really, really love.

Their first release was an Oatmeal Pale Ale. I love hoppy beers. They also do a Mesquite Smoked Porter, which is kind of like a seasonal Christmas-style beer."

  • True Blonde Ale

    2 of 10

    Beer: True Blonde Ale

    Why:

"From the Ska Brewing Company in Colorado. It comes in a really cool yellow can and it's one of my favorites.

It's on the lighter side, but it's got some nice citrus flavors, the hops aren't too over-bearing.

For me, it's a session beer, which means I drink lot of it. If I'm home watching the game and I want to drink a six pack of beer, this is the one that I would do that with."

  • Bombshell Blonde

    3 of 10

    Beer: Bombshell Blonde

    Why:

"It's one of chef John Besh's favorites and done by the Southern Star people here in Texas."

  • Buried Hatchet Stout

    4 of 10

    Beer: Buried Hatchet Stout

    Why:

"It's also from Southern Star. Stout beers are darker, more rich in flavor, certainly something you would never expect to come out of a can.

It's really neat with nice malt, a hint of chocolate and caramel flavor notes as well."

  • Dale's Pale Ale

    5 of 10

    Beer: Dale's Pale Ale

    Why:

"It's great if you like lighter-style beers. It's got more of that hop that you find in a pale ale and it's not something you would expect to come out of a can."

  • Pearl Brewery and Lone Star

    6 of 10

Beer: Pearl Brewery and Lone Star

    Why:

"They are both Texas classics. Both lagers and easy to drink beers."

  • Pabst Blue Ribbon

    7 of 10

    Beer: Pabst Blue Ribbon

    Why:

"Old PBR - this is an old school beer. It's a lager, so it doesn't have a very high alcohol content.

You can taste the yeast in the beer, and it doesn't really have any hops or anything like that. I guess you can view it as kind of a session beer, too. An ice cold PBR, there is really nothing like it!"

  • Fancy Lawnmower

    8 of 10

    Beer: Saint Arnold's Fancy Lawnmower

    Why:

"It's a German-style Kölsch, a little hop, light and easy to drink.

It's from a Texas brewery and they won the Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival. And as for the name, I guess it's kind of the perfect beer to have when you're done cutting the grass."

  • Brooklyn Lager

    9 of 10

    Beer: Brooklyn Lager

    Why:

"It has more hops than I would expect from a lager. I get a little orange notes and citrus character, good drinkability."

  • Duvel

    10 of 10

    Beer: Duvel

    Why:

    "It's an interesting golden ale.

Light beer is light because it has less alcohol in it. It has less calories because they use less corn or yeast that produces the alcohol, but something like a Duvel Golden Ale, which looks like a Budweiser, is actuality a higher alcohol content beer."
