Andrew Hellman, one half of the husband and wife duo who are the driving force behind Teroforma, asks “how do you chill your favorite spirits just enough to take the edge off without diluting their balanced flavors?” His answer is the Teroforma Whisky Stones (if you’re a little biased towards scotch, you’ll be happy to see the spelling without the “e”). Scotch aficionados can be a little snippy about putting ice in their sacred drams and this provides not only a unique solution to the problem, but a manly one at that. And imagine, you actually get to put rocks in your glass.

The whisky stones are about 3/4 inch in size and are milled from soapstone at Vermont Soapstone, in Perkinsville, Vermont, which is the oldest soapstone workshop in the United States. As with ice, you take them from the freezer (three per glass being the recommended number) and add them to your whisky and wait for 5 minutes for the chill to take effect.

Natural soapstone was chosen for both its natural softness which means it won’t scratch your favorite scotch glass, and for its ability to retain temperature for extended periods of time.

Teroforma, the company that makes the Whisky Stones, is responsible for pairing up designers from around the world with artisan-manufacturers.
Teroforma Tumbler
The husband and wife duo of Andrew and Anna Hellman spent 18 months traveling around the globe seeking designers and manufacturers. They love bringing the unique, the interesting, and the special together to create. They have developed collaborations with 22 artisans and designers in 14 different countries. Their products tend to be sleek, well designed, minimal with clean lines, and elegant. For glassware, a perfect pairing with the whisky stones are the Avva Lens Small Tumblers (ST1). With the combination of the tumbler and the whisky stones, it almost doesn’t matter what scotch you are pouring.
