Gastronomical capital of Northern Spain. WHY: You don’t have to frequent the Michelin starred restaurants, just try the simple and inventive pintxos that will blow your mind. They don't call it tapas in the Basque Country, it's pintxos (pronounced "pin-choss"). San Sebastian is where the Spanish royals used to frolic, so it makes perfect sense that this seaside resort town would host a twice daily, culinary-driven cocktail party. The ritual is called tikiteo, where people amble from bar to bar snacking on tiny amuse-bouche canapes and drinking Txakoli wine. In a city that holds the bragging rights to more Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else on the planet, these bite-sized noshes are photo ready, gorgeous, delicious and... bonus: affordable. This week, we provide our San Sebastian hook-up list. Recommendations culled from Michelin starred chefs and San Sebastian insiders. Click here to get the list and see photos from our own tikiteo.
