Clinton Street & Bay Street Brooklyn, NY 11231 (map this) www.redhookfoodvendors.com WHAT: Latin American street food. WHY: Because this is the last weekend of the season to experience the authentic fresh foods, prepared to order. The street vendors may be from El Salvador, Columbia, Chile, Mexico and Guatemala, but the people who trek out to the Red Hook Ball Fields to eat their tasty, authentic cuisine come from all over. Every Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine, roughly from May through the end of October, you can sample an array of Latin American specialties made fresh to order. Many of the vendors have been serving at the ball fields since the mid-70's. As the years have gone by, the word has caught on. This weekend will be the last weekend of the 2009 season. We recommend:
Grab some friends, spread out across the trucks, and meet up at one of the picnic tables around the ball field lawn to compare notes. It's a cheap, entertaining and tasty way to spend a late fall afternoon.
