Miami Nightlife Guide
Miami, FL

Miami doesn't need an excuse to party, but there is nothing like a glamorous and prestigious art fair to bring in the world's glitterati to this tropical playground.

The ninth edition of Art Basel Miami kicks off this week, so we asked local mixologist Ryan Goodspeed of Michael's Genuine Food & Drink to help us curate a shorthand Miami nightlife guide.

But don't worry if you can't make it south for the festivities, we have 11 of Ryan's favorite cocktail recipes.

For Signature Cocktails

Where: The Florida Room (www.delano-hotel.com)

Why: "Mixologist John Lermayer is working with fresh ingredients nightly. Lenny Kravitz designed the Florida Room. They do quite a bit of live music and after midnight it gives way to a DJ."

Located: The Delano Hotel, 1685 Collins Avenue, Miami, FL 33139, T: 305.674.6152

A Miami Scene

Where: LOVE HATE LOUNGE (www.lovehatemiami.com)

Why: "The owners of Miami Ink own it and everyone is tatted. Some nights it's love, some nights it's hate, literally. You'll be standing in line and a bloody brawl will spill out, other nights it's peace and happiness."

Located: 423 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33109, T: 305.695.8616

Off The Beaten Track

Where: LOU'S BEER GARDEN (www.lousbeergarden.com)

Why: "It's in the back of a small boutique hotel, just a no frills poolside bar with tables around the pool. Great beer selection and reasonable $5/$6 pints."

Located: The New Hotel, 7337 Harding Ave, Miami Beach FL 33141, T: 305.704.7879

Old School Dive Bar

Where: MAC'S CLUB DEUCE

Why: "I think it's the oldest bar on the beach. That is dive bar central."

Located: 222 14th Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139, T:305.531.6200

Campy

Where: MAGNUM LOUNGE

Why: "It is the coolest gay bar in the world. They don't have the best selection of beers or wine, but when you order a vodka tonic, it's served in a 12 ounce bucket. They have an outdoor patio for when the weather is nice and a small island style bar. Usually there is somebody incredibly flamboyant playing the baby grand piano. It's just hysterical, so I recommend it."

Located: 709 NE 79th Street, Miami, FL 33138, T:305.757.3368

Live Music

Where: THE STAGE (www.thestagemiami.com)

Why: "Probably one of the best live music scenes, band inside and band outside."

Located: 170 NE 38th Street, Miami, FL 33130, T: 786.301.2480

Late Night

Where: PURDY LOUNGE

Why: "It's kinda away from the chaos. Great, local spot - no cover, nightclub/lounge type environment, pretty minimal dress code. The place probably gets going at 1am and it's really hopping at 3am."

Located: 1811 Purdy Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139, T: 305.531.4622
