While mead gets associated with ye olde grog of singing bards and jousting knights at renaissance fairs, the honey wine can be a great fall addition for drinking and cooking.
Chef Hadley Schmitt, the new executive chef at New York's Northern Spy Food Co., is using mead to braise cabbage, along with apple cider, for a "taste of the season with apples and honey."
