Waterbury Farmers Market

Farmers Market | Waterbury Farmers Market

It’s a small town farmers market so you know everyone. They have live music every week and it’s pretty special. We come here every Thursday, all the adults bring a couple of beers or a bottle of wine and no one hassles anyone because we’re all old enough to do it properly and not be an idiot. It’s this really awesome small town feeling with beautiful food and it’s pretty special.

We used to get our bread from them before we began making it in-house. You can buy all of their bread here, but it’s like a coffee shop. You can also buy cheese and wine and have a really great breakfast and get pastries and all kinds of treats and snacks.

What Hill Farmstead puts out has just been outstanding. You pull up here any day and there are several hundred people in line with license plates from all over all the place getting their growlers filled or buying whatever that’s on sale that day. It’s pretty amazing.

American Flatbread

Pizza | American Flatbread

This is a wood-fired pizza place. The original one is in Waitsfield, VT. This tiny farm-based, wood-fired oven sort of hippy, pipe dream type, beautiful thing. It’s really wonderful and then they sort of grew a tiny bit and they have one in Burlington now that’s pretty popular.

Pistou

New American | Pistou

This is a small place downtown with really young progressive cooks. They have a tiny menu and they have the chef's tasting menu for 45 bucks. They rotate quite a bit, it’s just a chalkboard menu.

The Kitchen Table Bistro

New American / French | The Kitchen Table Bistro

This is sort of new American meets classic bistro. The owners definitely know what they’re doing and they do it well. You’re not going to see some new progressive whatever random type food here. It’s classic bistro style in an old farmhouse. Their version of a steak frites is what I’ve ordered every time I’ve come here for the past nine or ten years. It’s tarragon aioli, grilled onions, awesome local ribeye and fries. You can’t really go wrong.

Coffee at Maglianero

Coffee | Maglianero

We sell little pastries to them and they are definitely worth checking out. They serve Vermont Artisan coffee, which is a great roaster known for their Coffee Lab. Artisan owner Mané Alves is part of this group that judges the best coffees in the world and he owns Vermont Artisan, but his business is Coffee Lab. People are here from everywhere all the time to study with him for his week long courses and coffee roasting and cupping classes.

Beer | The Farmhouse Tap & Grill

They have a pretty crazy beer selection and a beer garden outside and sort of a parlor downstairs for the winter with a fireplace. It’s a pretty great place.

Cocktails at Prohibition Pig

Cocktails & Beer | Prohibition Pig

This is a really outstanding bar and restaurant. They have probably 25 taps and a whole bottle menu for beer and aged beer. Then they have a really rad cocktail program that’s not like anything in Waterbury. You can put the Prohibition Pig in any city in the country and it would have one of the better cocktail programs.
