Rouge Tomate Cart in the Park
Street food from the Michelin-starred Rouge Tomate restaurant. Their menu features chef Jeremy Bearman’s burgers and sausages served on Vermont Bread Co.’s whole wheat bun. Bearman says, “The city was looking for vendors who could offer healthier options throughout Central Park. Our philosophy at Rouge Tomate is that food should not only taste great, but that it should be good for your body as well. We wanted to show how the same philosophy can be demonstrated with recognizable, satisfying and affordable options like we serve at the cart.” Try a grass-fed Green Burger with salsa verde, a Moroccan Turkey Burger, vegetarian Portobello Burger or spicy Spanish Duck Chorizo. They also have soups, fresh juices, cookies and ice creams.

Just next to the western edge of Madison Square Park, chef Philippe Massoud of ilili Restaurant offers Middle Eastern / Mediterranean take-out from a repurposed shipping container. He says, “It’s 60% based in tradition and 40% explorative.” Massoud recommends ordering different falafel sandwiches for the full experience. “Get the Pressed Chicken and the Korean Falafel. The Pressed Chicken is more authentic and traditional and the Korean version says, ‘Screw the falafel, let's see if we can have some fun.’” They also have wine, beer and lemonade.
