Make your Easter egg hunt a safari with Pastry chef François Payard’s animal print-themed eggs. The 8-inch handmade chocolate eggs come in zebra and cheetah and are filled with mini Easter eggs. There is also one made to look like a coconut.
“Every year I try to create a theme for the holidays. This year I thought that a great theme would be a safari for Easter. In America, people love the Easter rabbits, but in France the eggs are the star of the holiday. Two of the eggs are decorated in animal prints. The coconut style egg started out as a mistake. When we were making one of the animal print eggs, the design did not look perfect. I realized I could use the mold and brush the egg to create a coconut look. I have added a little coconut to the bottom of the egg. All of the Easter eggs in the safari collection are filled with the new Valrhona chocolates.”
