Chef Paul Qui has experienced a banner year. The executive chef of the highly-regarded Austin restaurant Uchiko and owner of East Side King, his trio of food trailers, won $125,000 by beating out his tough “cheftestant” competitors on Bravo’s Top Chef: Texas TV show.
This past Monday, chef Qui won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southwest, a year after his mentor and boss, chef Tyson Cole won the same honor.

Cheese | Antonelli’s Cheese Shop
Amazing people, really knowledgable staff, they have the best cheese selection in Austin.
Asian Produce | Hana World Market
A great Korean and Japanese product selection with a nice variety of house made kimchee. It’s a one-stop shop for shabu shabu night. The owner also supplies some of the best restaurants in town and I hear he's working on expanding their seafood selection.
Asian Produce | MT Supermarket
Amazing selection of Asian goods and produce. Live catfish and every part of a chicken and pig you can hope for.
Grocery Store | Royal Blue Groceries
Gruet, grilled cheese and a can of tomato soup. Not to mention they carry Jeni's ice cream, my favorite.

Bring some friends along and get the whole curry dusted catfish, it ranges from 2 to 5 pounds, depending on how many friends you bring with you. Also, ask for the stinky fish sauce, yummy anchovies.
